Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, my name is Megan. I’m currently working on my associates degree in early childhood. I love spending time doing all kinds of DIY activities. I love my family and spending time outdoors.

What inspired you to start making soaps? How long have you been making them?

The beginning of this journey started in the eighth grade! I started off by just making soaps for myself and for gifts for family and friends. One day someone suggested to me to be a part of my church craft show. Surprisingly, the craft show went well for the first time. In fact, ever since then I have continued to participate in my church craft show. However, things have changed since I first started making homemade soaps. When I first started, I was making glycerin soap with all kinds of molds, then went to shea-butter, and currently use a goat’s milk soap base with an exfoliant. It’s now been 7 years that I have been making soaps. At the end of last year my mom encouraged me to make sugar scrubs, which they have done great thanks to all my customers. I absolute love doing craft shows because I get to meet new people and stay in touch with others that I’ve meet throughout this journey.

Tell us a little bit about the process of making your soaps.

The soap I make is the Melt and Pour Process. It takes approximately 1 ½ hours to make 10 bars of soap.

Why did you choose Old Town Consign to sell your soaps?

I wasn’t looking to sell my soaps anywhere. However, my dad kept talking to my mom, sister, and I that we need to check out a co-workers shop that they had opened recently. We finally made it out to Old Town Consign and ended up talking to the owner for a good while, which lead into my dad and mom telling her about the Goats Milk Soaps and scrubs that I make. Thus, resulting in the owner Mrs. Hope being interested in selling my soaps and scrubs. In fact, after she put that thought in my mind I thought it would be great to have the soaps at Old Town Consign because I absolutely loved the atmosphere and it has such a wide verity of items!

Do you have any plans for the future?

I don’t think I’ll add any new products for a while because I currently want to keep this hobby of mine small and focus on my school. However, I’m always adding new fragrances throughout the year. In fact, I just started carrying Fall Fragrances and will have two new Christmas Fragrances available this year as well!

Is there anything else you want readers to know?

I’m very thankful for this little hobby of mine and excited for what God has planned for it. I always try to remember this within whatever I may be doing whether it’s with school or through my hobby and I hope you will to… 1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
