October 17th: Rich + Holly's Hobby

Meet Holly + Rich, our Vendors of the Week. Holly and Rich are new to OTC but that hasn't stopped them from stocking the store with beautiful holiday decor. Come by soon to check out some of their amazing pieces!

Tell us a little bit about yourselves.

Hi! We are Holly and Rich Russell. We moved to Fort Mill from Forked River, NJ eight years ago to be close to our son and grandchildren. Rich is retired from United Parcel Service and I'm retired from Bank of America.

What inspired you to start making your art? How long have you been making them?

We started making crafts about two years ago.  It started as something to do when we weren't babysitting for our grandsons.

What’s your favorite thing to make?

Our favorite thing to make is snowmen shutters and looking for old sleds and ice skates to decorate for Christmas.

Tell us a little bit about the process of making it.

Basically, it's painting the shutter top black and the bottom white. Making an orange nose out of a paint stirrer. We use wooden checkers and large wooden buttons for the eyes and the buttons go on the body. Then we make a brim for the top hat and decorate them with Christmas ribbon and other cute decorations, like a corncob pipe.

Why did you choose Olde Town Consign to showcase your items?

Our good friends Audrey and John Nemit told us about Olde Town Consign as they bring their crafts there also.

Is there anything else you want readers to know?

Only that we really enjoy working together and searching for cute things to embellish our products.
