October 10: Ms. Audrey

Ever been in the shop and seen a beautiful picture made of jewelry pieces? What about one of our fabric teddy bears? Fabric pumpkins? Miss Audrey is the brains behind these fabulous items. Stop by soon to see some of her amazing work!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Audrey Nemit. I have always been a sewer.  I love to see and create beautiful things from a pile of fabric. Recently, I have branched out into button and jewelry framed art.

What inspired you to start making your art? How long have you been making them?

I am in my seventies and I learned to sew from my mother at an early age.  The teddy bears I have been making for about 30 years.  I have done many special orders of keepsake teddy bears for many years.

What’s your favorite thing to make? Tell us a bit about the process.

I really enjoy making keepsake teddy bears.  They have brought much comfort to loved ones. Well, you start with a vision in your head, then try to find the right fabric, buttons or jewels.  I often make many versions before making the final item.  One of my sewing instructors once told me "in sewing we don't make mistakes, we make unexpected variations."

Why did you choose Olde Town Consign to showcase your items?

I am originally from PA, I have been in SC for about 8 yrs.  I kept searching for a venue for my crafts and came upon OTC online.  It has been a great outlet for my crafts.

Is there anything else you want readers to know?

I really appreciate OTC and the joy of being a part of such a great enterprise.
